Interactions between Sinetrol® polyphenols and gut-microbiota – new mechanistic data  

An open-label clinical study conducted on 19 subjects explored the role of gut microbiota in the metabolic transformation of the polyphenols contained in Sinetrol®.
- The metabolism of naringenin and hesperidin is microbiota‑dependent, highlighting the role of microbial biotransformation.
- Interactions between gut microbiota and Sinetrol® polyphenols were associated with changes in selected metabolic markers.
- Changes in short‑chain fatty acid (SCFA)–producing microbial populations were observed, with inverse associations between SCFA producers and visceral adipose tissue.
